Penang Hotels Review & Recommendations

We recently traveled to Penang and enjoyed every moment of it. Penang is the second-most popular travel destination in the Peninsular and is populated with many hotels. They all have their pros and cons, so we can’t possibly say which hotel in Penang is the best.

It really depends on what kind of holiday you are after. Do you prefer the hustle and bustle of the city, or the serenity of the beach? Either way, we have compiled a list for you, so you can read all about it and make up your own mind.

First off, the two most popular places to stay are Georgetown and Batu Ferringhi. Georgetown is a marvelous place for exploring culture, heritage, and history. If you love sightseeing and walking around, then that is where you should stay. Batu Ferringhi is all about the nightlife and the beach. The streets come alive with all sorts of festivities and night markets when the sun goes down. You should stay there if that’s your thing, plus you also get the play watersports during the day.

So, let’s get down to it!

Holiday Inn Resort Penang

Hotel In Penang

A beachfront resort with spectacular sea view. If you don’t want to get dirty and sandy at the beach, the pool is also rather nice. You can lounge at ‘The Terrace Cafe’ for a lazy evening. A note worth mentioning is that this is a very child-friendly resort. You have the luxury of leaving your kids at Playlab, the in-house entertainment hub where they will be completely safe and taken care of. Check them out here: http://penang.holidayinnresorts.com/

Bayview Hotel

Bayview Hotel Penang

This hotel is very conveniently located within walking distance to the ferry and shopping malls nearby. It is a good starting point for your explorations around town. It has a revolving restaurant on the second floor that serves Japanese cuisine. It is overall a nice and reasonable hotel with great access to the city.

Copthorne Orchid Hotel

If you’re torn between staying at Batu Ferringhi and Georgetown, you may want to consider this hotel. It is strategically located between both at Tanjung Bungah. Both town and beach are easily accessible within an approximate 10-15 minute drive, so you get the best of both worlds. It also has a 24-hour restaurant, which is great if you’re still hungry after eating out all day.

Conclusion

These are just our favorite picks, and the most value for money in our opinion. There is no clear winner; the ultimate decision lies with you!
